We are delighted to share the news that several ACDI Chairs, Fellows and Researchers have recently won prizes, secured funding, and been nominated for presitigious awards.
First is
Stephanie Midgely, an ACDI researcher and project manager in agriculture, food security and climate change. who is a member of the
Smart-Agri team that was recently awarded a
Gold Eco-Logic award. The Eco-Logic awards recognises those individuals, organisations, products and services that are making a difference and actively contributing to the conservation of the planet.
Next is is
Jessica Thorn, an ACDI fellow,who has been awarded funding from the
African Academy of Sciences to (1) determine impacts of seasonal variability on water supply in rural and peri-urban areas, (2) assess synergies and trade-offs of water-related ecological infrastructure, (3) identify barriers to the mainstreaming of ecological infrastructure for adaptation, and (4) examine diverse, scenarios to achieve desired futures outlined in the 2030 UN Sustainable Development Goals and the African Union Agenda 2063.
Last, but by no means least, is ACDI Research Chair,
Martine Visser, who has been named as the 2018/19 winner of the
NSTF-Water Research Commission (WRC) Award. This award acknowledges outstanding contributions towards sustainable water management, knowledge generation and solutions over the last 5 to 10 years.
