Mobolaji Timothy Olagunju
Dr. Mobolaji Timothy Olagunju didn't just choose public health; he chose to tackle the toughest puzzles at the intersection of nutrition, NCDs, HIV, and mental health. With a PhD in Epidemiology and Health Statistics from Nanjing Medical University (China) and an MSc in Human Nutrition from the University of Ibadan (Nigeria), he's built a career that spans continents and connects the dots between what we eat, how we feel, and the diseases that affect us.
Why does this matter? Because Mobolaji believes that health equity isn't just a buzzword—it's a mission. His research has explored everything from dietary patterns among young people living with HIV in Lagos to the psychosocial wellbeing of pregnant women navigating HIV in Ibadan. He's authored over 38 peer-reviewed publications, and his work has been featured in journals like Frontiers in Public Health, BMC Public Health, and PLOS Global Public Health.
A global citizen with local roots. Fluent in English and Yoruba (with basic Mandarin for good measure), Mobolaji has collaborated across Nigeria, China, and the broader African continent.
What drives him? A passion for translational research that doesn't just sit on a shelf but changes policies, improves lives, and gives a voice to the most vulnerable. When he's not publishing, reviewing for international journals, or mentoring emerging researchers, you'll find him thinking about the next big question: How do we make health systems work for everyone, not just the few?
