The Extremes Lab (X-Lab) focuses on climate risk, impact attribution, adaptation efficacy and climate intervention strategies, with a particular emphasis on Africa and the Global South. The lab integrates physical climate science with social-ecological systems and policy contexts to understand how climate extremes affect human health, water security and agriculture, while assessing the feasibility, effectiveness and equity of adaptation measures. Its research spans extreme event and impact attribution; nature-based and technical adaptation; climate adaptation progress, governance and equity; climate services, communication and knowledge co-production; and urban and regional climate risk and water security.
