Ancois de Villiers

ASCEND Postdoctoral Research Fellow

Ancois de Villiers is a social-ecological systems researcher with expertise in transdisciplinary research, organisational resilience, and the evaluation of conservation and restoration initiatives across ecological, social and economic dimensions. Ancois is the current Postdoctoral Research Fellow for the BAOBAB synthesis team Guidance for Conserving African Biodiversity in a Changing Climate.

With a background in conservation ecology, environmental anthropology and organisational studies, Ancois works at the science-policy-practice interface, contributing to biodiversity governance, climate adaptation, and sustainability transformations. Her work focuses on translating complex social-ecological dynamics into actionable strategies to inform decision-making and collaborative action. This is grounded in systems thinking, with a strong focus on relational and learning-oriented approaches.
