Ignacio Pita
Ignacio Pita Vaca is an ASCEND Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Climate Risk Lab at ACDI. His research focuses on the intersection of climate change and health, working on the DESTinY project. His work centers on developing a living evidence synthesis map to identify knowledge gaps in the impacts of climate change on health in cities and human settlements, with the ambition of leveraging state-of-the-art AI tools to build a comprehensive and up-to-date data repository on climate–health interactions. A key aspect of his research is evidence transfer, particularly in identifying parallels between data-rich and data-poor regions to support informed decision-making and strengthen adaptive responses.
Ignacio has a strong background in climate change impacts and adaptation in marine ecology and fisheries, with a particular emphasis on adaptation to both short- and long-term crises. He holds a PhD focused on the transdisciplinary analysis of adaptive capacity in Mediterranean fisheries, reflecting his commitment to integrating diverse knowledge systems to address complex environmental challenges.
