Emmanuel Likoya

AFRIVERSE Postdoctoral Research Fellow

Emmanuel Likoya is a climate scientist with expertise and research interests in hydrometeorology, climate dynamics, climate and hydroclimatological modelling, weather and climate extremes, climate change adaptation, land use change, and agroecosystems. Emmanuel is a postdoctoral research fellow in climate data science on the AFRIVERSE project. He is working, primarily, to develop the project’s climate attribution data and analysis platform, as well as collaborating with health impacts attribution teams working towards the project’s goal of building African capacity and digital tools for climate-health impact attribution.

His experience working in international, multi-institution, and multi-disciplinary research consortia has helped him develop research skills in a range of disciplines including physical climate modelling and climate systems analysis, hydrological modelling, and qualitative approaches for studying socio-political dimensions of climate impacts and services in relation to food and water. He aspires to use his skills to champion southern-led research with productive north-south cooperation in climate research.
