Queen Marekerah
Queen Marekerah is a statistician and early-career researcher in environmental health and climate change. She holds a BSc Honours degree and a Master’s degree in Statistics from the University of Zimbabwe, as well as a Master of Science in Epidemiology and Biostatistics from the University of Cape Town. She recently enrolled for a PhD in Environmental and Geographical Sciences at UCT.
Her PhD research focuses on attributing the influence of anthropogenic climate change on human exposure to weather events that impact health, with a particular interest in mapping these hazards across Africa. The project aims to bridge gaps between climate science, epidemiology, and public health.
Queen currently works with the HABVIA research programme as a Data Quality Control Officer, and has previously contributed to the ORCHID data team, gaining extensive experience in data curation, analysis, and management in interdisciplinary research settings.
