Gerald Ngoma
Gerald Ngoma is an environmental economist and Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the People in Nature and Climate (PiNC) Lab. His research focuses on the intersections of nature-based solutions, climate adaptation and mitigation, human well-being, and climate finance in developing countries. He examines how environmental interventions and climate finance can contribute to more equitable, inclusive, and climate-resilient development.
With strong quantitative and analytical skills, Gerald supports interdisciplinary research through research design, data collection, and data analysis. He is currently leading research on ecosystem restoration finance in informal settlements across the Global South and examining how locally led financing mechanisms can support effective and equitable restoration. The latter draws on comparative evidence from South Africa, Zambia, and Zimbabwe to build an evidence base for locally led adaptation and inform climate finance practice and policy
