Michelle Shields

Dr Michelle Shields joined ACDI in 2021 and leads the institute's communications activities. She completed her PhD in Conservation Biology at the University of Cape Town in 2021, following a BSc and Honours in Zoology from Rhodes University and an MSc in Conservation Biology from the University of Cape Town. With a strong foundation in conservation, Michelle has spent the past three years as a communications officer in the climate change field. Her passion for knowledge and education drives her to bridge the gap between scientific research and public engagement, making complex environmental issues more accessible to diverse audiences.
