Luckson Zvobgo

Luckson is currently a Postdoctoral Research Fellow – Head of Science Policy in Climate Risk Lab at ACDI, University of Cape Town. Luckson’s research focuses on adaptation progress tracking, integrating evidence from multiple sources to inform the formulation and implementation of better policies that respond to the growing climate change impacts.

Luckson leads the project "Global Goal on Adaptation (GGA) to Climate Change.” In this project, Luckson is working closely with the African Group of Negotiators and the broader Group of 77 and China negotiators to the UNFCCC on the GGA, researching the best approaches to operationalise the GGA, including its framework and implementation modalities, such as global targets, metrics, and indicators for assessing progress.

Luckson is an IPCC Lead Author for the “Technical Guidelines for Assessing Climate Change Impacts and Adaptation Including Indicators, Metrics and Methodologies” in the 7th Assessment Cycle in Working Group II. Luckson was the Technical Expert in the development of the Global Goal on Adaptation indicators that were adopted by UNFCCC Parties at COP 30.

Luckson holds a PhD in Environmental and Geographic Science from the University of Cape Town and an MSc in Water Science, Policy and Management from the University of Oxford.
