Nadine Methner

Researcher

Nadine has been a Research Officer at the ACDI since 2017. As a project coordinator and co-lead investigator, she has successfully managed several complex, interdisciplinary research projects (e.g., ACAMISEBEIWEF Nexus), demonstrating excellent coordination, facilitation, and multi-stakeholder engagement abilities. Having worked with teams spanning diverse cultural backgrounds, time zones, and stages of career progression, Nadine gained extensive experience in facilitating inclusive team interactions and developing good governance practices and inclusive communication strategies.

Nadine’s work focuses on building partnerships and fostering knowledge co-production to advance effective and equitable climate change adaptation across Africa. Her research aims to deepen the understanding of adaptive capacity by examining the relationship between generic and specific adaptive capacity, challenging the divide between autonomous and planned adaptation through an equity-focused perspective, and expanding knowledge on the transformative role of intermediary organisations and their partnerships in shaping climate action.

Nadine holds a PhD in Environmental and Geographical Science from the University of Cape Town. She joined ACDI as a post-doctoral researcher in 2014, working initially on the SmartAgri project.
