The Africa Climate Collaborative at UCT aims to establish a climate knowledge Community of Practice that links communities, NGOs, business and government to researchers and students in South Africa, the region and the continent, and establish a climate resilience information desk that supports knowledge uptake and use. The CoP will strengthen partnerships, bridge the gap between research and practice, and promote the co-production and application of knowledge to enhance climate resilience.
What is a Community of Practice?
A COP brings together a group of people (the community) who share a common interest or passion, and who learn how to do it better through regular interaction (Wenger, 1998).
In the traditional sense, Communities of Practice (CoPs) are informal, self-organising groups that set their own agendas, with knowledge creation and exchange serving as their primary shared purpose (Cundill et al., 2015).
