The program recruits and funds 68 young African postdoctoral researchers (<35 years old) to undertake three-year independent research projects. These researchers serve as co-principal investigators, collaborating with UCT and partner staff to develop climate-smart solutions.
Beyond research, they participate in a Researcher Career Development Programme that provides training in leadership, supervision of graduate students, and transferable skills like proposal writing and project management to prepare them for permanent leadership roles in Africa.
