Noor Fatima Anwar

After graduating with a BSc (Honours) in Accounting and Finance from the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS), Noor started working as a Research Associate at an environmental consultancy based in Karachi, Pakistan.

In this role, she devised curricula for environmental awareness training sessions for public as well as private sector organizations; designed, analyzed, and reported results of a survey to assess the preparedness of Pakistani businesses for climate risks; co-authored a white paper on the potential role of the private sector in helping Pakistan achieve net zero; organized focus group discussions (FGDs) to develop a Gender Action Plan for the Green Climate Fund’s (GCF) Pakistan Distributed Solar Projects (PDSP); and applied the GHG Protocol standards for greenhouse gas emissions accounting. In 2025, she co-authored a chapter on "Islamic Green Finance Risk Assessment and Mitigation for Banks in Pakistan", which was featured in "Islamic Finance and Sustainability: A Research Companion" published by Routledge Taylor & Francis Group. This study assesses the current state of climate risk management in leading Islamic financial institutions and uncovers ways to leverage existing capabilities to support climate change adaptation and mitigation initiatives.

She began pursuing her Master's in Climate Change and Sustainable Development at the University of Cape Town in 2025. Her research focuses on community-owned renewable energy (CORE) financing models and the political, economic, and social factors that drive their emergence or hinder them.
