After starting her career in geographic information systems (GIS), Tariroyashe decided to pivot into a field where she can make an impact that secures a sustainable future for her children; an impact that transcends generations. She believes that the urgency of addressing the impacts of climate change is a global problem; it lies in protecting livelihoods, food and water security. Through insights she has gained along her professional journey, she is driven to play an active role in making African cities climate resilient. Building on her Honours degree in surveying and GIS, her current research focuses on using GIS to develop and test an approach for identifying areas that are likely to flood in Cape Town, South Africa. Her research interests are also in sustainable water management as one of the solutions to water scarcity. Tariroyashe enjoys being in spaces where womxn can thrive and empower each other to do the same. She loves playing rugby, baking and exploring the great outdoors.
