Masters Student & Research Assistant
Songo holds a BSocSci in Political Science and Sociology from the University of the Free State and an Honours in sociology from the university of Cape Town. Songo is currently pursuing a master’s degree in climate change and sustainable development at ACDI, where she also works as a research assistant. Songo's current research looks at how women smallholders from coastal rural communities are adapting/ navigating the adverse impacts of climate change on livelihoods.
Songo's broad interests are around gender, environmental, social, land, water, food justice and how marginalised communities, particularly working-class women, organise and build movements for alternatives to address the ecological crises.
