Saul Nurick is a chartered surveyor registered with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), who is currently working as a lecturer in the Department of Construction Economics and Management at the University of Cape Town where his research interests include green building within urban real estate. Prior to joining UCT he worked in the listed property sector, and also briefly as a consultant for a project management company in the UAE. In this talk, Nurick presents on Sustainability and the “Green building movement” that has emerged in South Africa.
Sustainability and more specifically green building has shown significant growth within the South African corporate real estate market in the last six years. There are numerous building attributes and stakeholders that are impacted by the green building movement. This has resulted in research being conducted in both quantitative and qualitative spheres, as the green building movement is still in its infancy in South Africa. Nurick will reflect on green building research that has been conducted in the real estate fields of: valuation, facilities management, client/developer engagement, corporate social responsibility, the listed property market, tenant attraction and retention, and the impact on the retail property sector.
The seminar is from 1-2pm.
