Brenda Martin will share some of the lessons she learned at Project 90 by 2030, for effective collective work aimed at driving social change. She will speak briefly for 15-20 minutes and then facilitate discussion and exchange of ideas.
Brenda has worked at leadership level in the education, gender, political science, sustainability and energy sectors in South Africa for over 20 years. In 2007 she founded a national social change-focused NGO, Project 90 by 2030. As an experienced practitioner, she has advised development agencies, governments and civil society networks on energy policy and implementation for driving social change. She is currently completing her Masters in Energy & Development while working as a researcher at the Energy Research Centre (ERC) at the University of Cape Town. Her research focuses on electricity planning and energy policy, particularly for nuclear power and renewable energy. She is most interested in the work associated with policy and practice transitions away from energy-intensive economies and societies.
