This interesting paper analyses the trade-off between mitigation and adaptation in an experimental setting using behavioural and experimental economics. It examines decision making and trade-offs between adaptation and mitigation based on two scenarios, one where climate change is certain and another where is it a function of mitigation. The experiment found that there seems to be no significant difference in the subjects’ choice to mitigate climate change, regardless of which scenario they are faced with. It also finds that adaptation is an important component to tackle climate change considering the inherent uncertainty presented in various scenarios.
