Vacancy: Networking, Visibility and Influencing Portfolio Coordinator
Applications are invited for the post of Networking, Visibility and Influencing (NVI) Portfolio Coordinator for the African Climate and Development Initiative (ACDI). The ACDI is a strategic initiative at UCT that coordinates and enhances research and teaching on climate and development across departments and faculties. The main purpose of the Networking, Visibility and Influence (NVI) portfolio is to:
Build and grow a climate change and development network within UCT and beyond;
Maintain and promote ACDI as a resource for climate change and development knowledge within UCT and beyond;
Ensure that ACDI activities are communicated to UCT and other stakeholder communities.
This is a full time, fixed term position for three years, with extension for a further two years subject to availability of funds.
Honours degree or level 8 NQF qualification in subject relevant to the NVI portfolio – marketing, journalism, communication, digital media, or similar;
3 years in marketing and communications experience, with a significant proportion of this on topics related to climate change (science, adaptation or mitigation), sustainable development or similar fields;
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
Social media and website content writing;
Experience in simple website development using Drupal or similar platform;
Coordination of events, such as conferences, workshops, seminars;
Relationship management between internal and external stakeholders;
Production (script writing, filming, and/or editing) and distribution of video and audio material.
Contribute to the development of the overarching ACDI strategy, with specific reference to the NVI portfolio
Implement and report on an annual work plan for the portfolio
Coordinate and contribute to core portfolio activities:
- Networking: maintain and grow stakeholder networks;
- Visibility: including maintenance and development of written, audio and video content for website, newsletters, social media, research reports, annual reports, brochures;
- Influencing: synthesis of research results to inform and/or influence organisations working in climate change and/or development;
- Maintenance of databases, and accompanying physical and electronic libraries of portfolio outputs.
Ensure other internal and external ACDI activities are supported with regards deliverables relevant to the portfolio;
Develop and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders;
Act as line manager for junior portfolio staff;
Coordinate and/or assist with research proposals and fundraising activities when necessary;
Coordinate and or contribute to project-specific NVI needs.
The current annual cost of employment, including benefits, is between R330 530 and R388 859
