Modathir was appointed as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Climate Change Projections and Scenarios in the ASSAR (Adaptation at Scale in Semi-Arid Regions) project, in the mid of September 2014. He is a part of a multi-disciplinary research group at the African Climate & Development Initiative (ACDI) in UCT, interacting with research teams from Southern Africa, West Africa, East Africa and India. Modathir has a B.Sc in Civil Engineering (Sudan University of Science and Technology, Khartoum, Sudan). An M.Sc. in Hydroinformatics (UNESCO IHE for Water Education, Delft, Netherlands). A PhD from University of Khartoum and ICTP, Trieste, Italy. The title of his PhD is “Climate studies on the Nile Basin: case studies on land use sensitivity analysis in the White Nile, and impact of El Nino on droughts and floods in the Blue Nile”.  Modathir has a good experience in hydrology and familiar with different hydrological models, and has also a good experience in regional climate modelling. He is interested in African climate research.
