Makeya Karlie joined the ACDI as a DST-NRF intern in 2016. She completed her BSc and BSc (Hons) degree in Environmental and Water Science at the University of the Western Cape. Her majors included Earth Sciences and Life Sciences where she took particular interest in Geographical Information Systems (GIS), Fluvial Geomorphology and hydrogeology.
She will be assisting on the Adaptation at Scale in Semi- Arid Areas (ASSAR) project. Other duties performed during her internship will include research assistance, project development, and improving her communication, administrative and networking skills.
After her internship at the ACDI she hopes to further her studies and complete her master’s degree within the environmental sector.
