Green Campus Initiative
The Green Campus Initiative (GCI) was established in 2007 by a handful of students and staff to address issues of sustainability at the University of Cape Town (UCT). It has grown every year and now has over 1500 members. The GCI is a fresh, dynamic and action-based organisation that wishes to bring about lasting change and to make UCT a more environmentally-friendly institution. Most of the GCI’s actions are guided by the Green Campus Action Plan commissioned by the Properties and Services Department, and involves cooperation amongst students, professionals and academic staff.
